As if fighting fires and public safety weren’t enough for public servants, a misfit 25-year-old Naples man decided he needed attention in the midst of the fires. While attempting to clear the area of residents at the Golden Gate Estates, a Collier County deputy was approached by Joshua Benz, who then decided to snort cocaine in front of the deputy. Benz was discovered inside the evacuation area and motioned a deputy to stop. That’s when he decided to whip out his cocaine, snort it and immediately puts his hands behind his back. He was charged with possession of cocaine and is in jail on a $5,000 bond. Benz has been arrested multiple times for controlled substances and drug possession.
