Allegiant Air has been running flights back into and out of Charlotte County Airport for a couple days now, but the financial hit the airline took remains unknown. The Las-Vegas based airline was forced to move planes out of 6 Florida cities prior to Irma’s arrival. In all, 425 Allegiant flights were cancelled between Thursday and Monday, affecting about 50,000 passengers. Airline executives are still assessing the cost of booking passengers on alternate flights passing through Florida airports in Punta Gorda, St. Petersburg, Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Destin and Sanford/Orlando.
