Yesterday marked the first-ever flight between Punta Gorda Airport and Nashville, Tennessee.
Allegiant Air launched the service yesterday.
In June and July, the route will run Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, then decrease to just Thursday and Sunday service by August 12th.
Airline officials say they expect the new service to bring 20,000 visitors to the area each year.
