A unanimous vote last week shot down a re-branding effort for Port Charlotte’s Harbor Walk to be renamed the River Walk.
The idea for the rebrand came to separate Port Charlotte’s Harbor Walk from Punta Gorda’s Harbor Walk on the other side of the U.S. 41 bridge.
The advisory board for the Charlotte Harbor Redevelopment Agency rejected the change by a 4-0 vote. The final decision, though, lies in the hands of the Charlotte County Commission, who recently removed the advisory board’s authority to review any development proposals.
