A rash of counterfeit cash continues to spread like wildfire through the wallets of several Southwest Florida businesses. The U.S. Secret Service confirmed a spike in counterfeit currency cases is typical during the holiday season, but in the past two weeks, the bogus bills were spotted at five different locations spanning from Marco Island to North Fort Myers. In Fort Myers, two customers used funny money at a McDonald’s drive-thru. Another case was reported at Cantina Laredo after an employee found a fake $20 bill among their tip money.
