9 arrests were made in a sting targeting unlicensed contractors in Sarasota County. Deputies, along with the county building department, Florida Department of Financial Services Division of Insurance Fraud and the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, contacted people advertising home repair services. When they came to the sting location, they were asked to show their licenses and registration with the state. The three-day sting resulted in 11 felony charges and seven misdemeanor charges. Those arrested have a total of 40 prior felony and misdemeanor charges as well as eight convictions. All nine men were ordered to cease and desist operations.
