Sarasota County – According to the Florida Department of Health, Sarasota County has recorded two more confirmed cases of malaria, bringing the total number of recent cases of this mosquito-borne illness in the area to six. The latest cases were reported in the agency’s weekly Florida Arbovirus Report for the period of June 25 to July 1. The initial malaria case was reported in May, prompting the issuance of a mosquito-borne illness advisory by the FDOH for Sarasota and Manatee counties, which remains in effect.
