Local Organizations Prepare To Commemorate September 11, 2001

NORTH PORT

The North Port Police Department and North Port Fire Rescue will host the city’s annual Patriot Day Service on Wednesday, September 11, at 9 a.m. in front of North Port City Hall, located at 4970 City Center Blvd.
The ceremony will honor military personnel, fire rescue teams, police officers, and emergency medical services.

ENGLEWOOD

The Englewood Chamber of Commerce will hold a memorial ceremony from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, at Veteran’s Plaza, 641 W. Dearborn St.
The event will feature speeches, a moment of silence, and a remembrance display. Jessica Meyers will perform the national anthem, and Danny Fusion will play taps.

PUNTA GORDA
ShorePoint Health Punta Gorda will hold a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony from 8:30-9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11.
The hospital’s chaplain, who was involved in the aftermath of the attacks in New York, has played a key role in organizing the service, which will include ceremonial elements and proclamations.
The event is open to the public. Parking is available on Booth Street between Marion and Olympia.

DESOTO COUNTY
DeSoto County Fire Rescue will hold a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, on the DeSoto County Courthouse lawn.

VENICE
The Venice 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, at Patriots Park, 800 Venetia Bay Blvd.
The event will feature first responders, speeches, tributes, and a Venice Police and Fire Rescue color presentation. A bell-ringing ceremony will honor those who were lost, accompanied by music.
Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and water. This event is open to the public.

NOKOMIS

The Sarasota County Fire Department will host a remembrance ceremony at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, at Fire Station 23, 1930 N. Tamiami Trail, Nokomis.
The ceremony will honor those who served and those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
