Gulf Gate Library celebrates 10 years in its new facility with a luau-themed anniversary event
SARASOTA COUNTY – Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources invite the community to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Gulf Gate Library’s new facility on Saturday, April 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 7112 Curtiss Ave., Sarasota.
This free, family-friendly event will feature live entertainment, interactive activities and delicious refreshments in a festive luau-themed setting.
Originally established in 1973 as the Betty Service Branch Library, Gulf Gate Library has grown from a modest storefront into one of Sarasota County’s most cherished community institutions. Its new facility, built in 2015, was recognized by Tech Insider as the “most beautiful library in Florida.” Today, it continues to serve as a hub for education, technology and community engagement.
Last year, the library welcomed more than 88,000 visitors and loaned 77,700 materials, reinforcing its role as a vibrant gathering space for learning, collaboration and enrichment.
“Gulf Gate Library is more than a place for books. It’s a cornerstone of the community, a space for lifelong learning, meaningful connections and enriching experiences,” said Dr. Renée Di Pilato, Director of Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources. “As we celebrate ten years in this incredible facility, we invite everyone to join us for a day of fun and reflect on the library’s lasting impact.”
