Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Englewood East
ENGLEWOOD — Tragedy struck on Thursday night in Englewood East as a motorcycle collided with an SUV, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist and injuries to a woman and two children.
The incident occurred at 7:40 p.m. on State Road 776 (South McCall Road) at Roberta Drive/Regina Drive near Spinnaker Boulevard, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.
The motorcyclist, a 30-year-old North Port man, was traveling east on S.R. 776 when he collided with the SUV driven by a 22-year-old Rotonda West woman attempting to cross the road.
The SUV passengers, an infant and a 3-year-old girl, sustained injuries. They were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash prompted the dispatch of a medical evacuation helicopter.
The identities of those involved were not disclosed in the FHP report.
Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputies closed a section of the road for several hours to facilitate the removal of patients and vehicles while FHP troopers conducted their investigation.
