FHP Press Release – Charlotte County – El Jobean Bridge (State Road 776) – FATAL – Vehicular Homicide – DUI Manslaughter ARREST

On January 22, 2024, at approximately 8:05 pm, the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a multiple vehicle crash involving one fatality on El Jobean Bridge (State Road 776) in Charlotte County.
In the crash, Vehicle 1 (2023 Hyundai) was recklessly traveling south on the El Jobean Bridge at a high rate of speed. Vehicle 2 (2015 Ford) and Vehicle 3 (2016 Nissan) were also traveling south on the El Jobean Bridge, ahead of Vehicle 1.
The front of Vehicle 1 sideswiped Vehicle 2, continued to travel south and collided with the rear of Vehicle 3.
After an exhaustive on scene criminal investigation, Driver 1, identified as Nathan Anthony Dion, age 45 of Port Charlotte, was arrested for Vehicular Homicide and DUI Manslaughter, and booked into the Charlotte County Jail. The crash remains under investigation.

- Driver 2: Female, age 64 of Port Charlotte was not injured
- Driver 3: Male (wearing seatbelt) , age 64 of Venice was pronounced deceased on scene
- Vehicle 1: 2023 Hyundai Tucson
- Vehicle 2: 2015 Ford Explorer
- Vehicle 3: 2016 Nissan Versa
