In honor of the Dr. Martin Luther Jr. holiday, The State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota is sponsoring its 6th annual community MLK Day of Service. The day of service event isn’t just happening along the Suncoast, it’s a nationwide initiative to turn a day of rest into a day where people give back to their community, like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did. This year, SCF was given $190,000 from the state to award to charities, schools, and other organizations in both Sarasota and Manatee Counties so they could put together a service event for the holiday.
