The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said Monday it has closed an internal investigation into a now-fired sergeant.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement was looking into James White’s alleged role in drug trafficking and evidence tampering. The investigation found a package containing drugs was sent to White’s in-laws and tracked by White’s cell phone and computer.
White was fired on an unrelated policy violation in July.
