Gator Season Returns As 11-Foot Alligator Found in Sarasota County Pool

It’s gator season again, and one Sarasota County homeowner found out the hard way.

Over the weekend, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office posted images of a gator found in a pool late Friday.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission warns that the state’s estimated 1.3 million gators are becoming more active — and should be treated with “caution and respect.” There’ve been at least two other gator sightings in Suncoast yards recently, one mistaken for a burglar.

That gator that decided it needed to take a dip wasn’t a baby, either- it was measured at more than 11 feet long.
