Money Approved For New Ordinance Enforcement Team

Funding has been approved for the Homeless Outreach Teams, part of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office. The funding will allow hiring and training of a new unit that will be charged with enforcing a new ordinance. The amount that was approved in near $500,000 and will pay for two deputies, one sergeant, two health professionals and equipment. The office is working with the Salvation Army to allow some homeless a shelter rather than sleeping outside.
