Sarasota Memorial Hospital announced Thursday that the health care system has “not yet been able to renew” its contract with UnitedHealthcare.
The negotiations over an agreement that expires at the end of the year concern more than 27,000 local patients, including members of United’s Medicare Advantage program. A statement from the health system said that they asked United “for a fair rate to cover reasonable costs that we incur — a modest increase in reimbursement that we have negotiated with other major insurance providers in our region. UnitedHealthcare, however, has asked for a reduction in the reimbursement rate.”
