A state rep from Venice found himself getting blasted on Twitter over the weekend. Republican Julio Gonzalez posted on Saturday, ““It’s not about disrespecting you. I just wanted to raise awareness of what happens when I punch you in the face. Hashtag, Boycott the NFL” Gonzalez told the Miami Herald his tweet was not a threat, but claims he “used parallelism, with a hint of satire” to compare physical violence to those who “disrespect the flag or the country” by kneeling during the national anthem.
