And perhaps just in time for those trying -or at least considering- heading north to try and escape Irma, a new road has opened just in time. A 3.5 mile widening and extension of Lorraine Road opened yesterday, connecting University Parkway to Fruitville Road and providing another avenue for those in Sarasota County to get into Manatee. Lorraine is now open from State Road 64 in Manatee County to Fruitville Road in Sarasota County.
