No injuries were reported after a hazmat situation forced a Venice shopping center to evacuate Sunday. Around 2pm, officials with the Sarasota County Fire Department responded to the Venice Pines shopping plaza in the 1200 block of Jacaranda Blvd. due to a chlorine spill at a pool supply store. Once on scene, crews found a 1,300 gallon chemical tank was leaking into an overflow basin. Surrounding stores and businesses were evacuated due to a potential breathing hazard. Both the tank and basin were removed.
