We told you yesterday about the rumor that Englewood could change its name to Englewood Beach. Well, it turns out, the Englewood Chamber of Commerce has formed a committee to look into how a name change could help increase tourism. Chamber executive director told WINK News they just want to “see if it makes sense to maximize the efforts of Charlotte County tourism.” A tourism arm in Charlotte County had been printing up promotional materials calling it ‘The Punta Gorda/ Englewood Beach Visitor Guide.’ Chamber officials said Wednesday the idea is just that- an idea- and will get input from citizens and city officials before even officially making any kind of recommendation.
