The Town Commission in Longboat Key has voted 6-1 to bring in Sarasota County Administrator Tom Harmer as their new town manager. Earlier this year, current Town Manager Dave Bullock announced plans to retire in January. Last month, commissioners told Bullock to go after Harmer as a candidate, and within weeks, he had accepted the city’s offer of employment. Harmer, will stay on as the top county executive until December. The lone dissenting vote was cast by Vice Mayor Ed Zunz, who said he had a ‘serious problem’ with the hiring process.
