A 54-year-old man died in a fire Saturday morning on Carmine Road in Venice. Jeffrey Guffy was pronounced dead and a pair of deputies were transported to area hospitals after trying to rescue the man inside the home. The cause has not been determined as of yet and the deputies returned to duty a few hours after the fire.
