Firefighters in Sarasota County are going door to door giving away smoke alarms and testing ones currently in homes after a fatal house fire over this past weekend. Crews will be out near the area of Carmine Road and Shasta Road this week. Fire officials say a working smoke alarm could be a matter of life or death in the event of an emergency.
