The city of Sarasota will look at potentially banning any medical marijuana dispensaries within city limits. Sarasota’s City Attorney and Capt. Corinne Stannish of the Sarasota Police Department plan to go before the city council tonight and make their pitch to ban the dispensaries. Stannish claims the state law doesn’t control dispensaries enough- for example, restricting their hours or banning drive-thru service. Stannish told ABC-7 her goal isn’t to restrict access to medical marijuana, but instead to take a conservative approach from a public safety standpoint.
