The City of Venice won’t regulate the operation of Uber and Lyft starting July 1st. Gov. Rick Scott signed into law rules for application-based services that do away with local laws such as those in Venice. The new law:
–Sets minimum insurance levels
–Requires ridesharing companies to conduct background checks on drivers
–Institutes a zero-tolerance policy for drug and alcohol use
–Requires fare transparency so passengers can estimate their costs before riding
–Requires drivers to comply with a nondiscrimination policy
