A large brush fire has burned more than 150 acres in Punta Gorda. The fire initially started as a 60-acre blaze near Bermont Road on land used for off-road vehicles. All riders were asked to leave the trails by 3pm Sunday. Yesterday afternoon, six Punta Gorda fire units, seven Charlotte County units, and two tankers were all on scene. As of the last update from the Florida Fire Service, the fire was only about 60 percent contained.
