A jury has found a former Sarasota County caretaker guilty of taking more than $50,000 dollars from an elderly woman who had dementia. Linda Williams was convicted on Wednesday for Exploitation of an Elderly Person. The charges date back to 2014-15, when Williams was caring for the woman.
Williams was able to obtain power of attorney for the elderly woman, then spent more than $50,000 from the victim’s checking account. Williams reportedly spent the ill-gotten gains on a new car, home improvements, and wrote checks to her son. She’ll be sentenced on May 16th.
