Charlotte County authorities now have broader powers when it comes to moving unmanned or inoperable boats. A new ordinance states that the county can now tow both abandoned and derelict boats to safety. Such watercraft can pose a navigational hazard. Last year, Charlotte County removed 26 boats from offshore.
