The North Port City Commission got a head start on the medical marijuana amendment approved by Florida voters on Tuesday. Before the vote was in, commissioners approved, on first reading, an ordinance allowing two medical marijuana dispensaries to open within city limits. One would be located east of Sumter Boulevard and the other west of Sumter Boulevard. The idea is to give all North Port residents equal access. The ordinance will come up for final reading on Tuesday, November 22nd.
