(Charlotte County) – On Tuesday morning May 10th at 0600 hours, Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office and Punta Gorda Police Department Communications Centers will be transitioning to the new Airbus, Vesta 911 telephone system. This new telephone system consists of new hardware and software for 29 workstations combined between both centers and the backup facility and system network equipment. The new software provides some new and improved features for call takers and communications management. The new system also allows the ability for future next generation services such as text to 911. Text to 911 will not be immediately available but is made possible with this system.

The centers will also receive a new telephone reporting system called ECATS that is expected to improve the overall efficiency and accuracy of call statistical and call detail reporting. The new ECATS system will also allow easier access by managers to obtain real time and historical data when needed from any location.

Venture Technologies, a public safety technology provider has been working diligently for the past several months with Airbus and network provider, West Corporation in preparation for this transition. Once the transition takes place, Venture Technologies will monitor the health of the system and internal network components. We are very excited about these new systems and the services being provided by Venture Technologies.
