A vehicle hit and injured a bicyclist last night in Punta Gorda.
The highway patrol says it happened as this person pedaled north on Tamiami Trail near Oil Well Road.
It says the vehicle swerved right, went into the bike lane, and the right front part of it hit the bicyclist.
This tossed that person from the bike.
The patrol says the vehicle continued north on Route 41 and drove out of sight. It describes it as either a red or maroon four-door newer model passenger car.
This vehicle likely has damage to its front right area.
