Scattered showers and thunderstorms are hanging over the Suncoast today, with rain chances around 50 percent near the coast and closer to 60 percent farther south. Afternoon highs will reach the mid-80s, and a breezy easterly wind keeps things feeling muggy. A few storms could produce heavy downpours, so keep an eye on the radar if you’re out toward Venice, North Port, or anywhere south of the coast.
Wednesday brings noticeable improvement as the winds ease, though scattered afternoon storms are still possible. Thursday and Friday trend sunnier as a weak cold front approaches. That front moves through Friday with almost no rain, but it ushers in drier, less humid air behind it. The weekend looks genuinely comfortable, with morning temperatures possibly dipping into the upper 50s and lower 60s inland. Boaters should note that Gulf waters stay unsettled with that breeze through midweek.
There’s no tropical threat to the Suncoast over the next five days, though the Atlantic hurricane season does run into late November, so it’s not quite time to stop paying attention. What’s your plan for that cooler, drier weekend? Let us know in the comments.
