“Jeopardy!” fans may remember Joey DeSena as the sharp Raleigh engineer who won two episodes in November 2024 and banked $44,698 across his run. Court records now tell a very different story. DeSena, 44, was arrested Oct. 23 in Wake County, North Carolina, on 10 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, accused of possessing sexually explicit images and videos of children. A judge denied bond at his initial hearing Monday, and he’s scheduled back in court Nov. 16.
The new charges come less than a year after his first arrest. DeSena was taken into custody Dec. 1, 2025, on two felony secret peeping charges for allegedly recording a woman in a bedroom and bathroom. He pleaded guilty on July 27, 2026, and received 60 months of probation, 100 hours of community service, and a psychosexual-focused mental health evaluation.
The speed of the second arrest has raised questions about probation oversight and what happens between a guilty plea and a new felony charge. Suncoast listeners should note this case is unfolding in North Carolina courts, but it has drawn national attention because of DeSena’s television fame. We’ll continue following the proceedings as they develop.
