Carrot Top will be back on stage at the Luxor in Las Vegas on October 19. The comedian, whose real name is Scott Thompson, spent last month hospitalized after a reported mental health crisis, and several shows were canceled while he recovered. A press release this week confirmed his return to the residency.
The 61-year-old prop comic has headlined at the Luxor since 2005, making his one of the longest-running shows on the Strip. He’s known for his multicolor outfits, signature unruly red hair, and a trunk full of homemade props that have kept audiences laughing for two decades. In a social media message to fans, he wrote that he’s overwhelmed by the love, prayers, and well wishes, closing with “the laughs are coming back.”
His return offers a public example of someone stepping away to prioritize mental health and then coming back. For Suncoast listeners who’ve caught his act during a Vegas getaway, the news is a reminder that the people who make us laugh carry their own struggles. Have you ever seen Carrot Top live?
