A minor rear-end crash in St. Louis is now a felony case after prosecutors say it turned into a group beating of a retired truck driver. Lance Jeffries reportedly pulled over to check on the other driver after tapping their Ford Escape, and instead of exchanging information, police say he was punched to the ground, kicked, stomped and dragged by three people in that vehicle. A fourth suspect arrived shortly after. All four now face second-degree robbery, third-degree assault and second-degree burglary charges.
According to charging documents, Davion Alfred took Jeffries’ keys and wallet while the group went through his Chrysler, taking trash bags of Goodwill donations. Jeffries was hospitalized for several days with a black eye, neck and jaw injuries, and blood clots that required surgery. His family told reporters they learned the severity of the attack through footage of the incident.
