Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the holiday at the Tenoroc Public Use Area near Lakeland. He said last year’s version provided nearly $50 million in tax relief to Florida’s hunters, anglers and sportsmen, and this year’s event is expected to deliver tens of millions more. The same gathering marked the groundbreaking for a planned Florida Archery Center at Tenoroc, a project aimed at expanding outdoor access and youth programs.
A few practical reminders before you head to the store. Not every item on the shelf qualifies, so check the Florida Department of Revenue’s list or ask before you check out. And the deadline is firm.
