O’Charley’s, the Nashville-based casual dining chain that’s been around since 1971, is closing all of its remaining restaurants across 12 states. Multiple locations in Tennessee confirmed to WSMV that they were shutting down abruptly Wednesday evening. The company’s Facebook and Instagram pages have been deactivated, though their website was still online as of Wednesday afternoon. There has been no formal statement from the company about the closures.
This isn’t the first sign of trouble for the chain. Back in 2023, O’Charley’s closed 51 locations, citing difficulties recovering after the pandemic. For those of us on the Suncoast, it’s another reminder of how the restaurant landscape continues to shift. Casual dining chains that were once staples of strip malls and suburban intersections are increasingly disappearing, squeezed by rising costs and changing consumer habits.
