Suncoast Heat Index Hits 110: When Will We Catch a Break?

SHARE NOW

The Suncoast is in the middle of a serious heat stretch. Saturday’s heat index reached 110 degrees, and Monday is expected to bring more of the same, with feels-like temperatures climbing back to 108-110 degrees. A heat advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. tonight, and forecasters say more advisories are likely as the week goes on.

There is a small light at the end of the tunnel. Wednesday brings a 50% chance of rain, the best shot at some relief we’ve seen all week. But don’t expect the heat to vanish. Rain chances drop back to 30% for the rest of the week, and the 6-10 day temperature outlook keeps us above average. This is a long stretch of hot weather, not a quick blip.

For now, the advice is simple: stay hydrated, take breaks in the shade or AC, and check on neighbors who might be more vulnerable to the heat. Whether you’re heading to the beach, the Ringling, or just running errands, plan around the peak heat hours if you can. What’s your favorite way to stay cool on the Suncoast?
