Two apparently unrelated attempted bank robberies on Tamiami Trail yesterday — and neither bandit left with any money. Witnesses say a slender white male who looks like a recently died his hair whitish-blond showed a teller the butt of a handgun and pointed to a cash drawer at a Wells Fargo branch on Tamiami and Central Sarasota Parkway. He then got nervous and fled the bank on foot. Just three hours later and six and a half miles down Tamiami Trail, another would-be bandit showed a teller a note at another Wells Fargo branch, this one at the intersection of Webber Street. He’s described as a slender, five-eight Hispanic male who may be wearing braces. And he, too, apparently got cold feet and took off without getting any money.
