Taxpayers won’t be asked to foot the tab for a proposed expansion of the Venice Museum and Archives.

The pricetag’s $6.3-million. The Herald-Tribune reports City Council was told yesterday in addition to applying for state and federal grants, the bulk of the money will come from private donations. Plans call for a two story annex on the Triangle Inn, including permanent exhibits covering local history, and a rooftop garden for special events. The inn, which dates back to 1927, would be turned back to its’ original purpose as a tea room.
