Charlotte County Sheriff’s detectives have arrested two Charlotte High School students in connection with eight “car hopping” thefts from unlocked cars in Deep Creek last Friday morning.

Kameron Cody Long and Alyssa Nicole Coulthard were released to their parents after being booked into jail on Friday. A tip from a convenience store clerk who saw Coulthard dumping trash into a bin at the store led deputies to put out a description of the two, who were recognized by the Punta Gorda Police School Resource Officer at Charlotte High School. Detectives say both teens were involved in entering about 10 unlocked vehicles ovewrnight Thursday.
