For the first time in nearly three years, the unemployment rate on the Sun Coast has dropped below ten percent. It’s now at nine-point-eight percent for Sarasota, Charlotte and Manatee Counties – some 36-thousand people reporting being out of work. That’s the lowest jobless rate here since January, 2009. That’s the average unemployment rate for the three counties, by the way; Charlotte County still holding at ten percent.
