Florida DCF’s investigating the death of a resident at an assisted living facility in Charlotte County.

The investigation of Charlotte Harbor Healthcare was started after the death of 91-year old Donald Schaeffer eaerlier this month. Although no one at the facility or DCF is commenting on specifics, NBC2 reports it’s been alleged that Schaeffer had been left outside in the heat. A facility spokesperson says his people did not neglect Mr. Schaeffer and any claim that they did is untrue. Facility staff are cooperating with the DCF investigation and until it is finished, they won’t have anything else to say.
