Sarasota County Sheriff’s investigators are looking for an adult prankster who cost the department several man hours dealing with a fake bomb call.
Sheriff’s officials said some 33 on-duty and off-duty officers, seven fire crews and other first responders wen to the scene of what they thought was a bomb scare in the 2600 block of Botany Avenue, only to find the person who supposedly made the call, the person who claimed to be a 15 year old boy named Ryan, who supposedly killed his parents, was not there. Deputies said the two men who were there were not involved in the incident. Now, investigators said they’re looking for an adult who committed what’s called “SWATting”, that is, calling officers to the scene of a faked incident.
