Here’s a seemingly strange conundrum: at a time when unemployment is still high on the Sun Coast, some companies are saying they’re struggling to find workers. A recent study shows hundreds of jobs unfilled in the manufacturing industry and local leaders say that’s hurting the economy. Now, they’re doing something about it. Some Sarasota County Commissioners meeting with industry leaders to plot ways to provide better education so a bigger supply of skilled workers can fill those empty spots. They’re looking to the county’s technical institutes to help make that happen.
