A man accused of several Sarasota County home invasions and a kidnapping says prosecutors have made up some evidence against him. Forty-year-old Delmer Smith telling a judge that evidence the prosecution planned to present today wasn’t legitimate. Prosecutors had been set to claim that sweat they say came from Smith would provide DNA evidence that he was at the scene of one of the crimes. Smith says he worked up some of his own sweat in his jail cell and can prove that there’s no way police could have found any of it more than ninety minutes after he was allegedly at the scene.
