The sheriff himself rescues a sea turtle!

Yes, Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Cameron, and lest we forget, his wife Canda and their daughter Jessica, all helped in the rescue. The sheriff said in news release that the baby sea turtle was tangled in seaweed, there was a fishing bobber and a black trash bag involved too. Cameron said they were off Marathon a while back when he said they picked up the turtle and all that debris with a net and found fishing line wrapped around the turtle’s neck and one flipper. Cameron said his daughter acted as the nurse, holding the patient as he acted as the surgeon, carefully cutting the fishing line away — sort of a fishinglineectomy, if you will. After the line was removed, the patient was checked out and released back into the water. It was outpatient surgery. The sheriff remarked “he was a real cute little guy.”
