A follow up to a story we first told you about yesterday: Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Cameron ended up receiving $35,000 to fund his department’s marine patrols. Originally the Marine Advisory Committee recommended funding only $9,130 out of the $91,490 the Sheriff’s Office needed. But Cameron went to the commission, and all but Bob Starr voted to spend $30,000 for new boat motors and $5,000 to pay overtime for marine officers to cover marine special events. The money comes from the county’s share of West Coast Inland Navigation District funding.
