The new police cruisers in Sarasota even LOOK faster. A group of 37 patrol cars is receiving upgrades that range from the visual — sharp new, speed-oriented graphics — to safety and comfort items. Those include improved computer stands and other interior changes designed to make long hours behind the wheel safer and more comfortable. The changes are the result of suggestions by Sarasota Police officer John Lake and even include more room to sit comfortably with all the gear officers wear on their belts. A federal grant paid the bills.
