Money is why Sarasota County’s Sheriff Thomas Knight says he’s pulling his officers from working as student resource officers as of July 1st from middle and high schools within city limits. Knight says he’s hoping local police departments will replace his people. According to the Herald-Tribune the change would impact 5-officers working at Booker and Sarasota high schools and Brookside Middle School, all in Sarasota’s city limits.
